WELCOME TO TRAMLINE
In October of 2022, my wife and I were eating lunch at The Bird in Jackson, Wyoming. If you're unfamiliar, The Bird is known chiefly for its burgers, banter, and spectacular deck. It's the kind of place for casual gatherings and rowdy Sunday afternoons alike, but with October being smack in the middle of Jackson's shoulder season, we found ourselves sitting down to a quieter meal than usual. Inevitably, our conversation shifted to winter planning, and we kept coming back to the same question: why is it still so challenging to travel with our skis and snowboards? There have been so many incredible advances in winter sports equipment, but the methods used to travel with our gear haven't really changed in decades. We began to outline a few ideas, and by the time we finished our burgers, a plan had begun to form. We had no intention of starting a company that day, and we certainly didn't expect to launch a new product two years later...
Yet here we are, launching a new product two years later.
But why should this matter to you? Who cares if a couple of strangers in Wyoming decided to start another outdoor brand? Well, if you're reading this, we're guessing you're also an avid winter sport participant seeking a better way to travel. You invested in gear that fits your style during those well-deserved trips to the mountain, so why not protect it and make that trip easier on yourself?
Our company, Tramline, was born from a belief that there must be a better way to travel with oversized equipment. If you're like us, your ski bag contains some of your most cherished pieces of equipment. Whether it's a flashy new set of powder skis, or a trusted pair of boots, you want to travel knowing they're safe. So we set out to design products that allow you to spend less time worrying about your gear, and more time focusing on your destination. Products that are durable, mobile, and extremely easy to pack. After all, we should use that valuable flight time thinking about powder stashes and après parties, not airline fees and baggage handlers.
So join us as we aim to entertain and educate anyone willing to listen - and sure, sell the occasional ski bag. We may not be former Olympians or featured athletes in epic ski movies (unless the underwhelming videos on our phones count). But, we've traveled enough to know how nerve-racking it can be to show up at the check-in counter with no status and no idea how much our ski bag weighs. Having been through it, we hope our products, website, and even this blog, will alleviate many of the challenges you may face during your upcoming travels. At the very least, you'll be able to laugh with us as we share some of our misadventures on and off the mountain.
We wish you the best of luck this upcoming season and look forward to seeing you out there!
